The Malta Quad Bike Association which from now on will be referred to as M.Q.B.A. or association started to collect interested Quad-Bikers in Q4 of 2008. Oliver Ellul which is the founder of the association started all this some months ago. He presently owns a 250cc yellow quad.
He did various contacts with quad-bikers, suppliers & various other prominent and experienced people linked to these kind of activities and acquired feedback and knowhow of the ways to form a recognised club in Malta.
The scope of the M.Q.B.A. is to have various clubs depending on the interest shown as time goes by. Primarily the 2 main clubs will be 'The Racing Quad Club'and 'The Touring Quad Club'. Eventually, a club for all those interested in offroading will be formed. However in Malta offroading is illegal and the association will try to satisfy this interest and perhaps there will be some sites which will be legal and recognised to do some offroading. If this club will be formed it will be called 'The Offroading Quad Club'. Moreover if there will be sufficient interest in a nursery club for young children to practice & race with a quad a 'Nursery Quad Club' will also be formed.
Statistics as at end of November 2008 indicated that in Malta and Gozo there are approximately 800 quad bikes on the road (licenced quad-bikes).
Moreover, the association will also organise Quad-Biking Tours for tourists who want to spend some of their time in a different and more adventurous way. There will be options for sight-seeing tours, cultural tours, adventourous tours or a mixture of the three. A tailor-made package can also be done upon request.
Thus in summary the Quad Club organises the following:
